The name of the journal is not from Lef's “literature of fact”, but from the article “Literary Fact” by Yuri Tynyanov, in which he wrote:

“Definitions of literature, operating with its ‘main’ features, run into a living literary fact. While to give a firm definition of literature is becoming more and more difficult, any contemporary will point his finger at what a literary fact is. He will say that one thing does not belong to literature, representing a fact of poet's everyday or personal life, but the other thing, on the contrary, is precisely a literary fact.”

  • Abstract:

    The paper offers a context that explains the appearance of an antitalmudical fragment from Pierre Bayle’s “An Historical and Critical Dictionary” in Alexander Radishchev’s “Journey from St. Petersburg to Moscow” that refers to the excremental anecdote circulating among students and connected with the name of Ben Akiba. The context reveals the reason for including the citation in the seminary student’s notebook (chapter “Podberezie”).
